Best if you walk regularly and are steady on rough ground — it is steep and long, with a little easy scrambling over rock. Not the one if heights make you uneasy.

The walk

A wide track climbs gently out of Puigpunyent with sweeping views of the valley and its big estate fincas, before an old cobbled mule path leads into dense holm-oak forest — dappled light, the odd lookout across the valley. You come down over the ancient olive terracing of the Son Fortesa estate, then a quiet lane runs straight to Son Puig.

Son Puig is a handsome manor house set in about seven hectares of vines, worked by the family that owns it. You finish with a visit to the bodega and vineyard — chapel included — and your choice of tasting.

Guide’s tipThe long way earns the tasting — eat a decent breakfast, and don’t over-order the wine flight if you still have the walk back-story to hear at Son Puig.

At the bodega

There has been wine at Son Puig since the 16th century. Today the estate also grows cherries — worth timing for the spring blossom or the early-summer harvest.

You choose your tasting when you book — it is a per-person supplement added to the walk. All prices include 21% VAT.

Common questions

How do we get to the start?

The walk starts at Just outside Puigpunyent, in the South West of the Serra de Tramuntana. There is parking near the start if you drive; otherwise we can arrange a private transfer or point you to the nearest bus. We send exact directions and the meeting time once you have booked.

Is this walk right for us?

It is graded Challenging — steep, 450 m of climbing, with some easy scrambling over rock, and demanding underfoot. It suits people who walk regularly and are steady on rough ground, and it is not the one if you are wary of heights. Tell us about your recent walking and we will say honestly whether it fits, or suggest an easier route in the same area.

Can we bring children?

For this one we would usually steer families with younger children to a gentler route — ask us and we will suggest a good alternative nearby.

When is the best time of year to do it?

Good most of the year. From late spring the open climbs get hot, so we start earlier in the day — or point you to a shadier route. Just ask when you book.

Is there a minimum group size for the bodega tasting?

It depends which tasting you pick: the “Short visit + 2-wine tasting” has no minimum; the “Guided visit + 3-wine tasting” needs 5 or more; the “Guided visit + 4 wines & finger food” needs 8 or more. The calculator on this page flags it if your group is smaller.
