A steep, rocky climb out of a sleepy fishing village to the ruins of a cliff-top farm-monastery, with the island of Sa Dragonera filling the view the whole way up.
Best if you walk regularly and are steady on rough ground — it is steep and long, with a little easy scrambling over rock. Not the one if heights make you uneasy.
The walk sets off from Sant Elm, in the far south-west corner of the island, on easy paths and tracks that soon slip into pine woods — with an optional detour out to the Cala en Basset watchtower. The way narrows to a coastal path along old terrace walls, then steepens: rockier underfoot, with a couple of easy scrambles before the ground opens onto the first big view.
Below sit the ruins of Sa Trapa — the old windmill, threshing floor and round lookouts still standing. From there a short pull to the Coll de ses Ànimes at almost 400 m swaps the panorama completely, and a wide, winding track carries you back down to Sant Elm and, if you want it, a swim.
Guide’s tipTrail shoes with real grip, not just “trainers”. Bring swimmers — finishing with a dip off Sant Elm beats any café.
