Challenging

A fantastic linear walk between Esporles and Banyalbufar along two of the Tramuntana’s great hiking pathways: Camis des Pescadors and Sa Volta des General. This is a substantial walk in itself but those who want to make a day of it, can return via the old postman's route (Ref. W-NW09) and make it into an excellent circular route with a stop in Banyalbufar for lunch.

We set off from the church in the charming inland village of Esporles, following the narrow back streets until we reach the edge of the village. Then we climb gently through pretty countryside on a wide easy track with fincas and farmland on either side. From here we can enjoy the views of the village and surrounding valley. Soon we reach a view-point from where we get our first glimpse of the spectacular coastline here, and then we begin our steep descent via a narrow path alongside a torrent leading down to the sea and the charming little port of Canonge. There are a couple of bars/restaurants here so we can stop for a drink if we need to!

The last stretch from the port is a real treat, and we walk along coastal paths and tracks with fabulous sea views all the way. We pass one of Mallorca's very fine senyorial manor houses along the way and we finish in the village of Banyalbufar. This is a lovely coastal village set on ancient Moorish citrus terraces high above the sea. It is well worth exploring. From here we can catch the public bus back to Esporles or take a transfer back to your hotel.

Highlights

Lots of variety, spectacular sea views and the Moorish terracing at Banyalbufar...
