Challenging

This is a stunning walk (see Mountain Peaks & Tourquoise Bays), which gives us a real flavour of Mallorca and includes high peaks, incredible rock formations, torrents, turquoise seas, deserted beaches, and a sophisticated little port to finish off with! After a short transfer we are welcomed at the delightful Bodegas Santa Catarina where we enjoy a tour and tasting of some delicious wines, and then a fabulous and relaxing picnic set up on tables among the vines with wonderful views over the valley. Altogether a very memorable day!

We set off on foot from the serenity of the village of S'Arraco to ascend the peaks of Es Tres Picons. From here we get stunning views and some incredible rock formations. We then descend a broad valley via a wide, windy track to Cala Egos, an unspoilt shingle beach where we can stop for a snack and an optional swim. We'll probably have the place to ourselves as not even the 4-wheel drives can get there! Recharged we then continue along pine-clad cliff tops and over a series of rolling hills and a spectacular Coll to the little Port of Andratx. This is a place full of colour and charm with a chic Riviera-style waterfront and Mallorcan fishing boats. From here we take a short transfer to the beautiful Bodegas Santa Catarina set in the hills above the little town of Andratx.

We have given the walk a red boot largely because of the length of the route and because there is a short section that requires a bit of scrambling - otherwise it is relatively easy walking!

The Bodegas Santa Catarina is located in a beautiful valley in the south western corner of the Tramuntana. The winery was founded in 1985 and since then has produced award winning wines from both local and international grape varieties. Our wine tasting starts with a tour of the production area followed by a visit to the impressive wine cellar, and an entertaining explanation of the workings of the winery. We get to taste a selection of wines including some of those from its sister bodega Maciá Batle, and throughout our visit we are accompanied by our very own wine educator Martin Ward, who will inform us and fill in all the gaps in our knowledge about Mallorca's wine production and how it compares with main stream producers.

This is a truly romantic spot and we enjoy an idyllic picnic lunch beautifully set up on tables and benches among the vines - accompanied of course with a refreshing bottle of Santa Catarina wine!

Please note that our Walking and Wine Itineraries are only available as a tailor-made day out. So why not get your friends and family together and make it a party, or to celebrate a special event...!
