Walking Mallorca (Majorca)

Why not take a couple of days off work and spoil yourself with a few day's of fabulous walks, in a fantastic sunny location? Your hotel is one of the loveliest on the the island - a truly idyllic spot, with beautiful gardens to relax in at the end of the day... and it may even still be warm enough to enjoy the pool. September and October are fantastic months on the island, and if you love to walk, but you also delight in a bit of luxury while you are away then this is the perfect combination for you.

Sóller

Sóller is a lovely old town in the heart of Mallorca's walking country. It is in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which runs along the north west coast of the island. For centuries the high mountains to the south of Sóller isolated the town from Palma and the rest of the island, but today a road tunnel connects the two. There is also an old electric train connection between the two and for many this is one of Europe's great railway journeys.

The Soller railway station dates back to 1911, a crucial date in the town's history when communication by rail with the island's capital finally became a reality. From here the tram runs down to Soller port. Placa de la Constitució is 50m along the tram line and is the centre of town. Here you'll find the impressive modernist church of San Bartomeu which looks down on a series of smart café bars that surround the square.

Sóller is Mallorca's centre for citrus fruit (the original reason for building the railway was to transport the fruit to Palma and the port) and in spring the surrounding landscape is covered with oranges, lemons and olives.

Walking Itinerary

Your walking itinerary for this weekend includes 3 days of not very strenuous guided walking. We are keeping the focus very firmly on relaxation and the pace will reflect this!

One day we will walk straight out of your hotel door and head towards Deia. This is a pretty village down the coast with a small shingle beach where we can stop for our picnic. On the other 2 days we will do one of the Mallorcan classic walks - the Barranc (gorge) de Biniaraix W-NW06 (with an optional detour up to the peak of L'Ofre!) and the coastal route from Cala Tuent W-NW08 respectively.

On average we will walk 3-4 hours per day.

Hotel

Your fabulous hotel is one of our favourites on the island located in the centre of town, but you'd never know it! It is a tranquil haven with stunning gardens and terraces, and fabulous mountain views all round.

With only 6 bedrooms and 1 apartment, this is the perfect spot for a relaxing and spoiling getaway. Each room is beautifully and individually decorated and furnished, and each is full of charm. They all have heating, WiFi ... and white fluffy bathrobes and slippers!.

In October the weather should still be warm enough to use the hotel's stunning swimming pool, and you will certainly get to relax the gardens after a day's walking.

Please note that dinners are not included in your hotel package. But the town of Sóller has plenty of good restaurants to choose from or you could hop on the tram to the port, where there are further excellent options. Alternatively you could enjoy a gentle stroll to one of the pretty villages just outside town, where there are some nice spots that specialise in the local cuisine.
