Walking Mallorca (Majorca)

This is a fabulous late summer offer: A perfect week's holiday combining fabulous walks, fantastic location, spectacular scenery and a bit of pool-side luxuriating at the end of a sunny day. Your hotel is one of the loveliest on the the island - a truly idyllic spot. If you love to walk, but you also delight in a bit of comfort on holiday then this is a very spoiling combination.

Sóller

Sóller is a lovely old town in the heart of Mallorca's walking country. It is in the middle of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which runs along the north west coast of the island. For centuries the high mountains to the south of Sóller isolated the town from Palma and the rest of the island, but today a road tunnel connects the two. There is also an old electric train connection between the two and for many this is one of Europe's great railway journeys.

The Soller railway station dates back to 1911, a crucial date in the town's history when communication by rail with the island's capital finally became a reality. From here the tram runs down to Soller port. Placa de la Constitució is 50m along the tram line and is the centre of town. Here you'll find the impressive modernist church of San Bartomeu which looks down on a series of smart café bars that surround the square.

Sóller is Mallorca's centre for citrus fruit (the original reason for building the railway was to transport the fruit to Palma and the port) and in spring the surrounding landscape is covered with oranges, lemons and olives.

Walking Itinerary

Graded: Red Boot

Your walking itinerary for this weekend includes 5 days of guided walking in some of the best walking country on the island. Your walk each day will vary in length and grade, but overal we have graded it Red Boot. The Sóller area is mountainous so there is no avoiding ascents and descents - some of which are fairly steep!

Some days we will walk straight out of your hotel door and return the same way! On other days there will be a short transfer to the start or end of your walk. The walks on your itinerary will include one of the Mallorcan classic walks - the Barranc (gorge) de Biniaraix W-NW06 (with a detour up to the peak of L'Ofre!) the coastal route from Cala Tuent W-NW08, a day out of the Sóller valley to historic Alaro Castle and a scrumptious Mallorcan lamb lunch W-NW03.

On average we will walk 4-5 hours per day.

Wednesday is your day off. You are free to rest and relax, explore on your own, take a day trip to Palma, or enjoy one of the other activities we can organize for you….

Hotel

Your fabulous hotel is one of our favourites on the island located in the centre of town, but you'd never know it! It is a tranquil haven with stunning gardens and terraces, and fabulous mountain views all round. This is an extremely comfortable and stylish hotel with excellent service.

With only 6 bedrooms and 1 apartment, this is the perfect spot for a private and very luxurious getaway. Each room is beautifully and individually decorated and furnished, and each is full of charm. They all have heating, WiFi ... and white fluffy bathrobes and slippers!.

September is a fantastic month to be here, as it is still warm enough to enjoy the hotel's fabulous pool and gardens for a bit of rest and ralaxation after walking. This is a truly spoiling experience.

Please note that dinners are not included in your hotel package. But the town of Sóller has plenty of good restaurants to choose from or you could hop on the tram to the port, where there are further excellent options. Alternatively you could enjoy a gentle stroll to one of the pretty villages just outside town, where there are some nice spots that specialise in the local cuisine.
