Mallorca Hiking Club (MHC)
The concept:
MHC is a community of local, Mallorca residents who like to get out there, walk, and explore new parts of the island with fun, like-minded people.
You may have been living in Mallorca for a short time or have had a home here for many years – but the reality is that you probably still haven’t seen even a small proportion of this beautiful island that we live on.
It is true for many of us that we get tied up in our work and family lives and we neglect the opportunity to switch off, relax and make the effort to explore the island on our door step or just enjoy our surroundings. Well here is your opportunity to do just that, and at the same time to meet like-minded people, make new friends, and much more, by joining the Mallorca Hiking Club.
Members include walkers of all ages and levels of ability, so if you’re a beginner, you won’t feel like the odd-one-out as there are bound to be other beginners walking too. Likewise, there are also experienced walkers who can offer others advice and useful tips. In due course, we’ll also have separate walks to suit different levels of ability.

Walks and other activities
Club activities are organized and facilitated by Mallorca Hiking:
- Walks are usually guided by a club member
- A Mallorca Hiking representative participates in each walk
- Occasionally (when club funds allow) walks are guided by one of our professional guides
- Each walk is followed by a good lunch, which is a great opportunity to chat and socialise with your fellow walker, compare notes...
- Occasionally we'll organise an additional activity for the day, e.g. a wine tasting with lunch, boating...
Members should always check the following before signing up for a club walk:
- The grade or level of each walk scheduled: see our grading system
- What to bring with you and what to wear when hiking in Mallorca: see what to bring
Please contact Fiona at Mallorca Hiking:
- If you know a walk well and would like to share it with the club
- If you have ideas or suggestions about a walk you’d like to do, or other activities for the club
Club Rules
Each member of the MHC accepts and agrees to abide by the following rules:
- - Not to go ahead of the guide without his or her express permission;
- - To keep in sight of other walkers in the club;
- - Not to leave the group without informing the guide;
- - To take all rubbish home with you;
- - To come properly equipped - see What to bring
- - To be responsible for any guest that you bring and to look after them throughout the walk;
Please note that dogs are not allowed on regular Club walks. Walks organised especially for members and their dogs will be clearly specified.
Member commitments to each other
This is a members' club and the success of it will largely depend on its members, so all members please:
- Sign up for a walk in good time – and latest by the Thursday evening before the weekend of a scheduled walk. This will give MH enough time to make the necessary arrangements for member transport, logistics and restaurant or other bookings;
- If you sign up for a walk, please show up for it – if you don’t, it may affect your fellow members’ enjoyment of the day, transport arrangements etc;
- If you’re signed up for a walk, and a last minute emergency etc prevents you from attending, please call Fiona at MH on 679 808 905 asap – if you don’t, other members will be waiting for you and wasting their precious weekend and hiking time;
- Be patient and supportive of members with less walking experience than you!
Joining fee and member contributions
1. Annual joining fee of 50 euros (50% discount for joining before Feb 2012)
2. A contribution of 5 euros per person per walk towards MH organization and administration
3. All members are asked to offer fellow members who don’t have their own transport, a lift in their car (but they will pay a contribution of up to 5 euros for the favour)
4. All members who don’t have their own car are obliged to contribute up to 5 euros to any fellow member that offers them a lift to the start of a walk and home again
5. Where a club outing includes lunch or an additional activity, each member is required to pay for their own lunch or the cost of the activity (the cost of which will be provided well before the day)
Guests
Members are very welcome to bring friends and family along for Club walks, subject to the following conditions:
1. Guests pay 10 euros per person per walk (+ lunch and transport contributions)
2. Members take priority to guests if the group size for a particular day gets too large
All guest fees from MHC activities will go towards funding further MHC activities, e.g. to pay for a professional guide to lead the group on occasion, towards a members’ Christmas party…
Health, fitness, safety and insurance
All members of the MHC confirm that they have read and agree to the terms and conditions set out in the following links:
Communication within the MHC
Most club communications will be via Facebook so it is important that all club members become fans of the Mallorca Hiking Facebook page by clicking the "like" button.
For the benefit of all members, and to ensure the success of the club as a whole, we ask every member:
1. To be an active member of the group, for example:
- after each walk, post your comments and feedback on the Mallorca Hiking Facebook page
- post your photos and videos on to the Mallorca Hiking Facebook page
- participate in Facebook conversations and other activities on the page
- tell us your ideas and what you’d like us to include in the club’s annual schedule of walks, e.g. is there a particular part of the island you’d like to discover? Is there a particular walk you’d like to try…?
2. To help spread the word about the MHC, tell your friends, bring your friends along, suggest to your friends on FB that they become a fan (“like”) the MH FB page and anything else that you can think of…
We will try and accommodate members who do not want to participate on Facebook by email.
