Our Walks
Palma Excursion - Art & Architecture
- Ref. W-SW08
This walking tour is an absolute must for all those interested in architecture and art - particularly contemporary art fans. It will give you an insight into the many colorful characters - the artists, the architects and the benefactors - that have helped shape Palma into the sophisticated city that it is today. As we walk around this beautiful and historic city, firstly we'll visit the magnificent Gothic Cathedral and from there we'll follow a route that incorporates more Gothic architecture as well as some of the city's Modernist heritage; we'll visit Es Baluard the contemporary art gallery and the various "Foundations" or cultural institutes, which are the permanent home to many Spanish masterpieces. You'll be amazed!
Tossals Verds Loop
- Ref. W-NW12
This is an excellent and nicely varied circular walk around the Tossals Verds peak (at around 1,100 m high, it is the 3rd highest on the island). It is an energetic route, which takes us through 5 tunnels (so you'll need a torch!), which bring water down the mountain from the reservoir, includes a couple of steep ascents and a well-located stop at one of the island's beautifully restored refuges. Otherwise, the walk is along delightful paths, many formerly used by the old charcoal burners.
Monastic Wandering from Sant Elm
- Ref. W-SW07
There are a number of different routes we can take to the ruined Trappist monastery high above Sant Elm, with a number of possible diversions, but this is the most direct approach. Whichever way you go the approach is steep and challenging, but it is well worth the effort. This is a "must-do" walk if you are staying in the South West or just want to explore this lovely part of the island.
A Feast of Flora & Fauna
- Ref. W-SW03
The Serra de Na Burgesa is relatively unknown to walkers and yet it is just behind Palma and overlooks some of the busiest parts of the south-western coastline. In fact this is part of the magic - we look down on the hub-hub from a place a tranquility, where we hear only birds. Up here the walking is mainly easy with just a few ascents, the scenery and views are spectacular, and there are lots of examples of indigenous flora as well as many a siting of wild goat!
Rural Wanderings - Es Capdella & Galatzo Estate
- Ref. W-SW05
There are a number of different routes we can take around the village of Es Capdella and the estate lands of the Finca Galatzo, just outside the village. Many different variations make up a number of excellent walks of different lengths and duration. This is a sleepy, rural corner of the island, which has fabulous views of the conical-shaped Puig Galatzo. The whole area is particularly spectacular in February when the almond trees are in full bloom.
